April 3; HW#5: Peer Review

I reviewed the following classmates:

Kristina:  I suggested that she use headings to break up the proposal, which will make it easier to read.  I also commented that she might want to define the problem more clearly, because her proposal does not really have a problem, only a solution.

Peggy:   I suggested that she add headings to her proposal to allow for easier reading.  I thought her proposal was good as well.

I found reviewing the proposals had a clearer understanding of what a proposal is.  I can now work on my much easier.

April 3; HW#6: Response to Classmates

Janet:    I agreed with her that the tobacco industry used a public statement to continue its money making business.

Robert:   I agreed with him in that the language of the statement was discerning and confusing.

Jacki:  I commented on all the tobacco industry lied and the irony is that U.S is dependent on the industry.

March 27, 2007; Draft Writing Project #3

I would like someone to do a peer review on my proposal.  I need to know if my proposal is clear and understandable.  Also I like to know if I stated the problem and solution.  Thanks.

March 27, 2007; HW#4: Question #5

In reading the Frank Statement, I noticed that there was contradictions in it.  For example, the tobacco industry dismissed the findings in the research, however went to state that it should not be disregarded of individuals.

From reading the statement "At one time or another during those years, critics have held it responsible for practically every disease of the human body. One by one these charges have been abandoned for lace of evidence.", I decided to look at the history of smoking on Wikipedia.  I was very surprised to see that the disease the industry talks about is mostly cancer.  Beginning in the late 18th century, doctors and scientists were linking tobacco use to cancer.  I am therefore appalled by the outright lie of that statement.

The Frank Statement proves that the tobacco industry is a corrupted, powerful and unethical entity that will continue to exist as long as smokers believe in their lies and disceitful ways.
